Mission

Youth For Christ® Hockey League (YFCHL) exists to BRING HOPE to students lives through hockey.  Primarily composed of inner-city youth in Saskatoon, the eight team league meets weekly, playing roughly 40 regular season games before battling it out in the playoffs for a chance to win our replica Stanley Cup. Although we all love winning, we strive to help the kids we connect with to excel in life, not just hockey.

Vision

Every young person living fully in Christ.

YFCHL Hat Trick

History

Youth For Christ Hockey League was started in 2009 by Kim Worthington. After working as a youth worker in inner-city Saskatoon, he saw a natural talent for hockey that could not be fulfilled due to lack of resources. Many students from the core area of Saskatoon were clearly talented and athletic, but unable to come up with the resources to play in a community league. Having planned and prepared for a full year, he launched YFCHL in September 2009 with one league of 6 teams, a website, statistics, coaches, a 40+ game schedule and a one-third replica Stanley cup for the winning team to have their names immortalized on! Based out of the central school Princess Alexandra, the teams would come together every Wednesday for that first year, playing two games a night, and having an opportunity to get to know mentors that would walk with them through life. Since then the program has expanded to 8 teams, bringing out over 60 kids weekly and now runs out of W.P. Bate Community School at 2515 18 St West, Saskatoon.
